Movie #104: Daisy

The Story: "Daisy" is a story about the inevitable showdown between a detective and a killer who fall in love with the same woman.

What I Thought:

  • good movie
  • really wasn't as bad as some people said it was
  • liked the little details; witty, but not hard to get
  • loved how the meaning of daisies was weaved into the story
  • really sweet subplot
  • great ost, esp. the themesong - fits perfectly
  • nice cast
  • spectacular visuals; gives a romantic yet gloomy feeling
  • beautiful landscape
  • had a very similiar "feel" to it; you'd know what I mean if you watched Infernal Affairs and Windstruck

Note of Criticism:

  • Jeon Ji Hyun didn't really "shine" like I thought she would
  • pretty cliche
  • a tad slow
  • few "eh..." moments here and there
  • don't know if this is bad or good, but I didn't feel like JJH actually loved anyone. It's hard to explain. It's like she fell in love with the "person" that brought her the daisies, but not the actual person.
  • love story could've been stronger

Memorable Quotes:

  • "l built a bridge, then you gave me a painting. And l started sending daisies. But the bridge l built became a bridge between you and him."

Movie #103: The King and The Clown

Took a long break from watching movies didn't I? So, I decided to start things up again by watching The King and The Clown, since it's such a hit and all. Anyways, here goes...(I've decided to abandon my old way of formatting entries since it was such a pain in the ass)

The Story: Two clowns living in the Chosun Dynasty get arrested for staging a play that satirizes the king. They are dragged to the palace and threatened with execution, but are given a chance to save their lives if they can make the king laugh.

What I thought:

  • overall, it was really good
  • very interesting; two thumbs up for plot and subplots
  • multifaceted, but not confusing
  • love the characters; well rounded, had depth
  • gorgeous costumes
  • entertaining thoughout
  • not draggy at all
  • very nice choice of music
  • very good acting

Note of Criticism:

  • didn't quite reach my expecations; I thought it was going to blow me away
  • I really didn't like crying-Junki
  • Plus, he was too feminine at times; it kind of creeped me out
